Get Outside!

DESIGN • ILLUSTRATION • BRANDING • VISUAL IDENTITY

The Wild Center is a nature and science museum located in Tupper Lake, New York in the beautiful Adirondack Park. As part of their efforts to engage younger generations they created an event to encourage kids of all ages to get outside and explore nature.

Objective

Since this event was launching very quickly, they needed a wordmark for promotional materials and merchandise. It needed to fit the tenor of the event which was fun and outdoorsy, targeting elementary school aged children.

Solution

As the look and feel was to be fun and nature-y, I decided that the best approach was gong to be a hand-drawn style. This would produce and unique look and make it easy to add graphic elements for the brand build out. I created the lettering with big thick, round lines to give it a fun feel. To that I added landscape scenes to represent the different natural environments around The Wild Center, namely, mountains, forests, and water.

To help the staff at The Wild Center execute the brand easily, I created a quick brand guide for referencing fonts and colors.
