Praise at the Palace

DESIGN • ILLUSTRATION • BRANDING • VISUAL IDENTITY

A worship celebration in the Palace Theater that was presented by the Lake Placid Baptist Church.

Objective

In the winter of 2023, the world came to Lake Placid for the World University Winter Games. The Lake Placid Baptist Church rented out the Palace Theater on Main Street to hold special services during the games. They wanted the outreach ministry to have a catchy name and mark that would be on swag, apparel, and social and visual media.

Solution

To accomplish this, I created a custom typography that was bold and playful. To dot the letter i, I created a crown/sparkle mark that could be used separately as an icon or in a repeating pattern.

When adding colors, we decided that the color scheme should be bright and joyful. I used yellow and cyan to create a high contrast design that would work on either a white or black background. For the primary logo, I created an offset print effect with both colors. When presented on black or a dark background, the logo can be either blue or yellow with the other color being used for a shadow effect.

The crown mark was used to create a repeating pattern that was used for social graphics.

To ensure that the brand was visible throughout the event, I also created a series of slide backgrounds to be used for the projection. A version with the brand colors on a grayscale bokeh effect was made, as well as a version that utilized the white, one-color version of the logo on a multi-colored background.
